    Description

    “The house with the rose”

It is difficult not to stop in the view of the red mansion nearby the park of Aghios Konstantinos. Then, it is difficult not to step into to gain an artistic and an aesthetic experience. The first hostess, the eccentric painter Chrysoula Zogia, filled “the house with the rose”-as it is known- with special art and her personal style before donating it to the Community of Volos.

Even if people do not known the artist in order to conceive it in a better way, this house that seems to have been taken out of a book with riddles, certainly a tour will make them search and learn more about the peculiar artist. A plethora of portraits, members of the painter’s family, welcome the visitor while in the living room her paintings dominate, created in the method of technical representation, known as landscape. The arts in the hall provoke mixed feelings of compassion, admiration and surprise: firstly, the artistic work that imprints the painter’s special spiritual world, and then, the three characteristic hands with open fingers… In the room called “40 churches”, the old terrace of the house- work of art, the painter’s self sarcastic mood is obvious: Chrysoula Zogia has taken a picture with her grave as she wanted to be sarcastic. However, in “the house with the rose” that is named after a painted door at the top of the staircase, there are not only the eccentric pictures that cause query. The place is full of art that varies from frescos, portraits and drawings to paintings representing houses in Pelion- from where she came from- blooming yards, work of arts representing dead nature, oil paintings, abstract synthesis, and of course, the unique and countless painted bottles as well as Chrysoula Zogia’s personal items.
