Description

The Ecclesiastical Museum was founded in 1995 by sculptor Nikolas Pavlopoulos’ sister, Aurelia Vafeiadi and it is hosted at the basement of the church of Aghios Georgios. It is a place of almost 55 m2 in which there are exhibited the old ecclesiastical items and heirlooms from the churches of the village such as the cherubim, sanctuary doors, chalices, vestments, portable paintings and ecclesiastical books. At this place, a code of 1864 of the monastery of Pammegistoi Taxiarhes Nileias is saved, where there are recorded the entire chattel and the real estate of the monastery, as well as a pair of silver cuffs of father Gabriel. Furthermore, in this wealth, there is the painting depicting Aghios Georgios, in a throne not as a rider as it is customary, which is of high emotional value to the locals.
