Description

There is not an exact date for the building of the church of the Nativity of Mary. According to the inscription, which is above the south entrance, the temple was renovated in 1898. Especially, the inscription refers “Renovated from the ground by Maria the widow of Demetrios Papageorgiou the genus of Stamouli  Giannis on the 10th of August”. In the first years of its construction, it must have been functioning as a chapel and it was destroyed by the earthquakes and as a result it was renovated from the ground. The last renovation was realized at the beginning of 1980 under the supervisory of the commissioner Stamoulis Dimos (1912-1994) and Kyriakos Papoutsis’ care (1935-2013).
