    Description

    Vizitsa distinguishes in August on the 28th and the 29th that celebrates the memory of the decapitation of John the Baptist at the monastery that brings his name. The celebration starts with the preparations for the celebration two to three days earlier, in order to clean the internal and the external area of the temple. The broad beans are prepared with which the split peas soup will be cooked which is offered on the Eve and the day of the celebration in the church. On the eve’s night dinner which consists of meat and rice is offered to the attendants. The next day the liturgy takes place and the split peas soup is offered to the visitors.

    Tips

    Since its foundation, the monastery owns pastures by the faithful people’s donations, while the shepherds bring to the saint goats as gifts that are slaughtered on the eve and are cooked with rice.
