    Description

The Local Museum in Milies presents the history of the village as well as the traditional way of the residents’ life, with objects and tools of that period, as well as photographs with texts.

At the entrance of the Museum there is a replica of the flag of the Revolution that Anthimos Gazis raised on 7th May 1821 in Milies. Starting by the banner of the Mythology on Pelion, the visitor is informed on the foundation and the function of the School in Milies and the work of the scholars in Milies during the Enlightenment, that is to say Gazis, Konstantas, Filippides. Moreover, there are banners dedicated on the little train in Pelion, the painter Theofilos as well as lots of information for the era of the bloom of the village at the beginning of the 20th century as well as the destructions that had undergone by the Nazis in ’43 and the earthquakes in ’55.

It is worth examining the banners that are dedicated in the residents’ traditional life, which unfolds through pictures and objects that depict the women’s activities, such as textiles and embroideries and tools of professions such as the farrier , the stone sculptor, the carving knifer, most of which do not exist anymore.
