Pelion is a mountain so charismatic, giving extraordinary varieties of several products, due to its mild climate (mild in winter and relatively cool in summer). Dominant cultivation is the olive trees. All houses in Greece have this elixir of life, since it constitutes the basis to the Mediterranean diet and it is the indispensable ingredient to every local recipe. From the trunk, to the leaves, the olives and the oil, we conclude that in every way this liquid gold is used (according to Homer), it is beneficial. It will gain you savourily as olive, as oil, in salads, foods, sauces, while it is used as accompanying in legumes, fish and so on. Moreover, it constitutes the basic ingredient in many cosmetics for moisturizing and wound healing. In mythology, it is said that Chiron used olive oil as an ingredient in the application of his treating methods. The benefits are so many, that since antiquity it was registered as the symbol of peace and culture.

Tips:

  • Taste Konservolia from Pelion, (“Amfissa” variety), that have the characteristics of a big fruit, the oil is soft and slightly spicy, distinct in scent with elements of wet grass and of medium viscosity.
  • It has also been honored by the European Union for its Protected Origins Appellation.
