During the period of the poverty a variety of recipes from people on Pelion was developed, who experimented on different kinds of plants of the rich flora found on the mountain. One of these, which exist and are not consumed in any other place in Greece is tsitsiravla. Tsitsiravla or else pistakia are the wild pistachio that is grown in April on Pelion, which we find as pickles, scorched by salt and vinegar. Moreover, they are one of the most delicious delicacies for tsipouro. Furthermore, we can eat them at Easter not as pickles, but as a raw salad.
