In 1916, the “Selling Agricultural Products Association Zagora” is founded in Zagora on Pelion. At the beginning of 1950, the variety Starking Delicious travels from California U.S.A. to bind with the climatic and territorial circumstances from Zagora. This combination of mountain and sea gives a charismatic taste to apples and contributes to their deep red color, their shape and delicious fruit. Having so much resonance in the local market and abroad makes the residents of Zagora be mostly occupied with their cultivation. In 1985, the association changes its name into “Agricultural Association in Zagora”, with the internationally registered commercial sign “Zagorin”. In 1996, it receives from the European Union an important distinction with the label “Protection of Appellations of Origin”, which is given to products of high quality. The whole quantity of the apples is produced under the technique of “Complete Management” having obtained two certificates QMSCERT and NSF.
